While the story—centered on a school massacre—can be shocking, the message behind it is both powerful and nuanced. I love that, in opera, the themes almost always revolve around love, honor, or betrayal. Happy New Year everyone! 🥳✨ 2024 has been a very intense year for me !! It marked my first year—and the beginning of my second year—as an ensemble member at an opera house in Germany. I can definitely feel the difference compared to my time in the opera studio, and while I’ve gained more confidence, the roles I’m entrusted with are larger, which means the learning curve is still very much present. I feel incredibly lucky to have surrounded myself with an amazing team, and this environment has been a true catalyst for my growth as an artist. Observing and learning from my talented colleagues is such a privilege and an ongoing source of inspiration 🙏 Here’s to hoping that 2025 will be just as rich and fulfilling! 🥂🥹 Also, thank you so much to everyone who has started following me over the past few months. Last week, I stumbled upon a very old video from one of my first concerts as a bachelor student 🫣. Tbh, I think I was doing pretty well back then, but comparing that performance to today, the difference is striking. It really reminds me how far I’ve come. When I played the cello 🎻, progress felt so tangible: before practicing, I couldn’t play the piece, and after, I could. But as a singer, it’s different. I could always hit the notes, but developing my voice—my actual instrument—took years of dedication. Watching this video, I can truly see (and hear) that evolution. I finally made my debut as Gretel 🥳🤩 What a ride!! *according to me 😇 This a cappella phrase (it’s not but it definitely feels like it is) from Orff’s Carmina Burana arrives at the end of the piece. I have to be on stage around 30 minutes before it to sing my other arias, so I like to check and sing it a couple of times in my dressing room right before walking to the stage. By popular demand (exclusively singers 😂), here is the recipe I used to make 🔥Fire Cider🔥 (it’s @by_cynthia_ka ‘s) : - Some ginger (about 5cm) - Some turmeric (about 4cm) - 1 orange - 1 lemon - 3 small red onions - 7 garlic cloves - 2 red peppers or 1 tsp cayenne pepper powder - 1 L Apple vinegar (unpasteurized) - Some plants and roots like rosemary, black radish… Chop everything and put it in a clean jar, let it macerate for a month, and filter. You can have 1 tbsp a day in some water for 3 weeks, and 3 tbsp a day when sick. It’s all fun and games until you have to run up and down the stairs on stage a thousand times 🫠 No but for real, I get to do pretty amazing stuff in this job, I feel very lucky. Is it worth all the life sacrifices, years of spending money to audition and study, the stress and self doubt ?
